D25 - RESORT 2023-24 | SIGNATURE DUNDAS GIRL
Fresh and upbeat were words buzzing in my mind, as was the idea of a “Boho Bourgeoise” London Girl for D25. Poppy Delevingne, an eternal muse and inspiration, and the epitome of this London look, also stars in the new DUNDAS visual campaign. The collection is free-spirited but slightly more contained and urban in feel. The girl maintains her rockstar off-duty attitude but likes an elegant counterbalance to more exaggerated proposals; a Helmut Newton woman. The idea of a slightly deconstructed sophistication; a woman that expects to be seen but wants to feel effortless and nonchalant.
Following March’s runway collection with its strong focus on tailoring, this collection evolves from the late 1970’s cut jackets and coats in a soft palette in tropical wool of dusty rose, dove grey, cream, and pale yellow. Chartreuse, chocolate, and violet adds contrast along with silver metallics. Neat shoulders and elongated silhouettes are paired with wide leg or flared trousers. Daywear is progressively more in focus, offering a complete wardrobe for the DUNDAS girl. Dresses in jersey, knitwear, silks and patterned crepe varies between loose and flowing — mid- calf silhouettes for day and shorter silhouettes for night. Bodies in a luxurious rib knit look great with a black plongé leather skirt with high slits, or halter neck jumpsuits also in leather. For holiday, the gowns are long and sinewy in bias cut satin or fil coupé. Cowl neck and signature backless t-shirt dresses — the glamour to the collection the DUNDAS woman expects — are paired this season with flat sandals for casual wear. Tailoring in sumptuous magenta or black velvets, lace, as well as alligator-patterned mirror embellishment complete the offer. For the DUNDAS girl going away to warmer destinations, animalier patterned kaftans, gypsy dresses as well as crochet separates and shifts fit perfectly into her travel wardrobe.
